Consider a resolution casting a vote for the Travis Central Appraisal District Board of Directors. Department: Administration Department Staff Person: David Kautz, Assistant City Manager/CFO Justification: In October, the Council nominated June J. Kunkel to serve on the Travis County Appraisal District (TCAD) board. The board of directors is instrumental in developing and maintaining an appraisal district that is well managed and fair to both individual taxpayers and the entities that depend upon property tax revenue to fund local government operations. The TCAD Board has ten members. The eastern jurisdictions, in which Round Rock is located, may cast one vote each for the eastern jurisdiction nominee. Staff recommends placing the one vote on June J. Kunkel. Funding: Cost: N/A Source of Funds: N/A Outside Resources: N/A Background Information: HB 1010 was passed in the last legislative session which affects all taxing jurisdictions that have property in more than one county. Therefore, starting in 2008 the City of Round Rock will receive part of its tax roll from the TCAD. The legislation requires that the City of Round Rock be allowed to participate in the selection of members of TCAD's Board of Directors for the 2008-2009 term. The City of Round Rock's jurisdiction is defined in the eastern part of the County. Public Comment: N/A
