Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to approve a construction contract with Murphy Pipeline Contractors, Inc. for the Greenlawn Boulevard 12-inch Waterline Replacement Project. Department: Water and Wastewater Utilities Staff Person: Michael Thane, P.E., Director of Utilities Justification: The city budgeted $388,183 to perform the replacement of 12 blue polybutylene water service lines with black polyethylene water service lines and to replace 2,700 linear feet of 12-inch asbestos cement (A/C) waterlines in Greenlawn Boulevard between Gattis School Road and Southeastern Lane. This waterline has been identified as a line that has experienced a number of breaks which has required numerous repairs by our utility workers. This is the main water distribution line that serves the subdivisions that were recently rehabilitated replacing A/C lines with HDPE lines. Funding: Cost: $320,950.50 Source of funds: Blue Tubing Fund ($25,500.00) Self Financed Utility Fund ($295,450.50) Outside Resources: N/A Background Information: There was one bidder on this project. The bid for the project is $320,950.50 for replacing the blue tubing service lines and the A/C water lines. Replacing water services and A/C waterlines benefits the City by: 1) reducing or eliminating future disruption to the neighborhoods for repair work, 2) reducing unaccounted for water losses, and 3) reducing the burden on city water maintenance forces.
