Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Change Order No. 2 with H. Deck Construction Company for the 2003-2004 Wastewater Collection System Rehabilitation of three Edwards Aquifer Basins. Deg_artment: Water and Wastewater Utilities Staff Person: Tom Clark, Director of Utilities Justification: The City is required to inspect, repair, and certify its wastewater collection system is in compliance with the TCEQ's Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone Protection Program. The elimination of defects reduces inflow and infiltration entering the sewer system, thereby reducing the City's treatment cost to the LCRA and BRA, who own and operate the Brushy Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. This Change Order No. 2 is for a change to the original plans for repairing a wastewater line that extends between Bellview and Christopher Streets. The original plans called for a point repair to replace 10 feet of wastewater line that was located under an existing concrete flume. Because of the damage to the concrete flume that would have occurred during the point repair and the difficulty in replacing the flume, the City requested that the contractor replace the entire length of the 8-inch wastewater line from manhole to manhole, and then replace the concrete flume with a 15" corrugated high-density polyethylene storm drain. Funding: Cost: $44,316.30 Source of funds: WW Utility Fund (F260) Outside Resources: R)N Group, Inc. (Engineering Consultant) Background Information: This project is rehabilitating defective areas determined from the 2002-2003 Wastewater Collection System Inspection Project in three Edwards Aquifer Basins (LC15-Z, LC16-Z, and CC34-Z). The scope of the project included pipe bursting, wastewater line replacement, line boring and encasement, point repairs, and rehabilitation of manholes. Public Comment: N/A
