Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Supplemental Agreement No. 1 Contract for Engineering Services with Baker- Aicklen &Associates, Inc. for the East Water Transmission Line, Phase 3-A (Redbud Lane). Department: Water and Wastewater Utilities Staff Person: Tom Clark, Director Justification: This supplemental agreement will allow Baker-Aicklen & Associates to perform the construction phase service for the 16" East Water Transmission Line, Phase 3-A in the CR 122 right-of-way. With this supplemental agreement the total fee for services will increase by $17,350.00 for a total fee of $116,630.00. Funding: Cost: $17,350.00 Source of funds: Capital Project Funds (Self-Financed Utility) Outside Resources: Bake r-Aicklen &Associates, Inc. Background Inform The recent Water Distribution Master Plan calls for this line to be installed from US 79 to Forest Creek Drive in order to meet water demands in the south east portion of the City. In the previous Master Plan, the line was not required until 2012 but is needed because of the accelerated growth experienced in the southeast part of town. Baker Aicklen was selected to perform the work because they have done surveying and design for Redbud Lane roadway improvements. Using Baker-Aicklen will allow for a shorter construction schedule, close coordination of the pipeline and roadway projects and cost savings by preventing redundant work. Because of the impending roadway construction, the water line needs to be installed prior to the roadway. This will improve the water distribution system capacity, fire protection and reliability in the area.
