WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock is in need of additional fire-
fighting services and equipment, and
WHEREAS, the Round Rock Volunteer Fire .Department (RRVFD) desires
to provide additional firefighting services and equipment to the
City, and
WHEREAS, in consideration of certain mutual covenants, the City
and the RRVFI) wish to enter into a contractual agreement, Now
Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS,
That the Mayor is hereby directed to execute on behalf of the
City an agreement with the RRVFD to provide firefighting equipment
and services to the City, a copy of said agreement being attached
hereto and incorporated herein.

AGREEMENT
COUNTY OF WILLIAMSON
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
STATE OF TEXAS
This Agreement is made on the 4&VLday of 19 ,
between the City of Round Rock, Texas, (the "City") and the Round
Rock Volunteer Fire Department (the "RRVFD") .
WHEREAS, the City is in need of additional fire fighting
services and equipment; and
WHEREAS, the RRVFD desires to provide fire fighting equipment
and services, primarily to the Fire District,
located outside the city limits and, secondarily, to the City, as
backup assistance when so requested,
Now Therefore, in consideration of the mutual covenants set
forth below, the parties agree as follows:
1. As consideration for RRVFD providing fire fighting services
and furnishing equipment as described above, the City
agrees to provide:
a. housing for all equipment utilized by RRVFD;
b. emergency dispatching services for RRVFD;
C. additional labor requested by RRVFD for maintenance on
RRVFD fire fighting equipment;
d. a location acceptable to RRVFD for conducting meetings
and drills;
e: all necessary and reasonable insurance for RRVFD
equipment and personnel, which has been agreed upon by
both parties; and
f. City will maintain all necessary records and bill
RRVFD as applicable.
2 . The RRVFD agrees that it will be solely responsible for the
following:
a. the repair and maintenance of all radios and pagers
owned by RRVFD;

b. all costs of fuel used for any reason by RRVFD;
C. all protective gear, equipment, uniforms or other
apparatus needed by RRVFD personnel;
d. the education and training of all RRVFD personnel;
e. all maintenance costs for RRVFD equipment currently
owned or acquired in the future;
f. one-half of all fuel and maintenance costs allocated
to E-122 currently owned by the City, so long as E-122
remains an engine reserved for county use.
3 . This agreement is for one year ending at the close of the
City's fiscal year and is subject to renewal at the
beginning of each fiscal year of the City of Round Rock.

into an agreement with the Volunteer Fire Department.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
The attached proposed agreement simply reduces to writing what
responsibilities the Round Rock Volunteer Fire Department and
City respectively have concerning the operations of the Round
Rock Volunteer Fire Department. This agreement has been reviewed
by staff, Round Rock Volunteer Fire Department personnel and
legal counsel. If Council has specific questions, Mickey Poppin,
Chief of the Round Rock Volunteer Department, will be at the
meeting to address those concerns.
