CONCERNING THE USE OF PUBLIC PARKLAND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES
The City of Round Rock, Texas ("Round Rock") City Council will hold a public hearing on
Wednesday..July 17, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cedar Park Recreation Center Meeting Room, 1435
Main Street, Cedar Park, Texas to consider the use of dedicated public parkland for the following
purposes:
Round Rock is a member city of the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority ("BCRUA").
BCRUA's proposed creation of a new deepwater intake ("Project") will involve the use or taking of
public parkland that is owned or controlled by the Lower Colorado River Authority ("LCRA") and
Travis County. A pumping station for the intake will be constructed on a portion of existing Sandy
Creek Park in Travis County abutting the existing Cedar Park Water Treatment plant, an additional
portion of Sandy Creek Park will be utilized temporarily for construction purposes, and two
easements will be placed across the park for water transmission lines to and from the pumping
station. The public hearing will be to consider (a) whether there is no feasible and prudent
alternative to the permanent use or taking of a portion of Sandy Creek Park for the pumping
station and transmission line easements, and also to the temporary taking of a portion of Sandy
Creek Park to construct the pumping station; (b) whether the Project includes all reasonable
planning to minimize harm to Sandy Creek Park as a park, recreation area, scientific area, wildlife
refuge, or historic site, resulting from the use or taking; and (c) Round Rock's approval of the
Project as a member of BCRUA.
The Public Hearing will be part of a scheduled meeting of the Round Rock City Council.
This notice is given pursuant to Texas Parks and Wildlife Code, Sections 26.001, et. seq.
