AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9, SECTION 9.1816,
CODE OF ORDINANCES (1995 EDITION), CITY OF ROUND
ROCK, TEXAS, TO PROHIBIT PARKING ON A PORTION OF
LAMAR DRIVE; PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND
REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES OR RESOLUTIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND
ROCK, TEXAS, THAT:
I.
Section 9.1816(24), Code of Ordinances, 1995 Edition, City
of Round Rock, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows:
9.1816 PARKING PROHIBITED IN CERTAIN DESIGNATED LOCATIONS
(24) Lamar Drive between Old Settlers Boulevard and Commerce Boulevard
(a) It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to park a motor vehicle, vehicle,
trailer, or automobile, as those terms are defined by Section 502.001 of the
Texas Transportation Code, V.T.C.A, on the east side of Lamar Drive
between Old Settlers Boulevard and Commerce Boulevard.
(b) It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to park a motor vehicle, vehicle,
trailer, or automobile, as those terms are defined by Section 502.001 of the
Texas Transportation Code, V.T.C.A, on the west side of Lamar Drive from
its intersection with Old Settlers Blvd. to 190 feet south of Old Settlers Blvd.
(c) Any such vehicle or trailer parked in such prohibited area shall be a nuisance
per se and shall deemed to be a traffic and public safety hazard. Any vehicle
or trailer parked in violation of this Section may be removed by a police officer
or at his or her direction and retained until such time as any towing and storage
fees are paid; provided however that the prohibited parking area shall be posted
with an official sign giving notice of the prohibition and of the fact that such
area is a tow away zone.
II.
A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in
conflict herewith are expressly repealed.
B. The invalidity of any section or provision of this
ordinance shall not invalidate other sections or provisions
thereof.

C. The City Council hereby finds and declares that
written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the
meeting at which this Ordinance was adopted was posted and that
such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all
times during which this Ordinance and the subject matter hereof
were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as
required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government
Code, as amended.

Establishing a No Parking Zone on the specified portion of Lamar Drive will provide a safer
environment due to new lane configurations.

Background Information:
Lamar Drive was recently re -striped to allow for three lanes of traffic. One lane for southbound
vehicles, one lane for a northbound left turn, and one lane for a northbound right turn. Establishing
a No Parking Zone for this portion of roadway will ensure that the southbound lane is clear for
vehicles traveling southbound.
