Exhibit B - Page 3 DALLAS -1105764 vl 1285523-00011 DATE: July 1, 2008 SUBJECT: City Council Meeting — July 10, 2008 ITEM: 9C2. Consider an ordinance annexing 0.0401 acres of land located between the Georgetown Railroad/Georgetown Railroad Company rail tracts and the City of Round Rock's water treatment plant, west of 1-35, just south of the ETJ boundary with Georgetown. (First Reading) Department: Planning and Community Development Staff Person: Jim Stendebach, Planning and Community Development Director Lee Heckman, Principal Planner Justification: This is a petition for voluntary annexation. This tract of land lies at the southwest corner of City - owned property housing the City's water treatment plant. It stretches from the treatment plant property across the Georgetown Railroad/Georgetown Railroad Company's railroad tract to TECO -Westinghouse property that is within the City limits. In late 2006, the City, Georgetown Railroad Company, and Texas Crushed Stone reached an agreement whereby the majority of the quarry property would not be annexed for 15 years. This tract proposed for annexation was excluded from that agreement, in order to provide for contiguity between the existing City limits and the City's water treatment plant. It is the City's recommendation to grant the annexation petition in order provide for a contiguous city boundary, and to facilitate annexation of the water treatment plant in the near future. Funding: Cost: N/A Source of funds: N/A Outside Resources: N/A Background Information: This tract of land is currently located within the City of Round Rock's ETJ in Williamson County. Public Comment: Public notice is not required for voluntary annexation, in accordance with Section 43.028 of the Texas Local Government Code.
