SUBJECT: City Council Meeting — August 28, 2008
ITEM: *9D1. Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a purchase
order to Intertech Flooring for carpet, tile, and vinyl baseboard for the
Robert & Helen Griffith Public Library.
Department: Engineering and Development Services
Staff Person: Tom Word, Chief of Public Works Operations

Justification:
Intertech's Flooring price is based on state buy board contract No. 241 with Collins & Alkman

lnterch Flooring has previously provided flooring for City projects such as the Dell Diamond
Dressing Room, carpet replacement at City Hall and most recently the new Police Department.
Based on the quality of work Intertech Flooring has provided in the past, the building
construction department is recommending Intertech Flooring as the contractor for this project.
This proposal includes demolition of existing flooring, floor preparation, furniture moving and
installation of rubber base, ceramic tile, and new carpet.

Source of funds:
$167,322.00
General Self Financed Construction
Outside Resources: Intertech Flooring
Background Information:
Flooring at the Robert & Helen Griffith Library has become worn and is in the need of
replacement at this time. The existing carpet was installed in 1999 during the remodel and the
addition to the facility.
