Nominations will be accepted until October 1, 2003. The new member will be elected by the Group at its quarterly regular business meeting in November, 2003. 31 T.A.C. § 357.4 defines municipalities as "governments of cities created or organized under the general, homerule, or special laws of the state". In selecting a member for the position, the Group will consider a number of factors, including the nominee's representation of the interest category, willingness to participate in Regional Water Planning Process, and willingness to abide by the bylaws. The Group is requiring resumes for all individuals interested in or nominated for this position. The Group has been working since 1988 to develop a comprehensive regional water plan for its 37 - County planning area, which extends generally along the Brazos River from Kent, Stonewall and Knox Counties in the Northwest to Washington and Lee Counties in the Southeast. The Brazos G Group is one of the 16 regional water planning groups covering the State which are charged with developing regional water plans under Senate Bill 1, passed by the Legislature in 1997. The first regional water plans were submitted to the State in January 2001 and were compiled to form the State Water Plan in December 2001. The water plans identify current water supplies and future estimates of water demands. In cases where future demands are greater than existing supply sources, strategies are evaluated and recommended to meet the identified needs. State law requires that the regional water plans be updated every 5 years. The Brazos G Regional Water Planning Group is now beginning work on development of its 2006 Brazos G Regional Water Plan. The 2006 Plan will build upon the 2001 Plan to reflect new or changed conditions. The regional water plans provide for the orderly developments, management, and conservation of water resources, and include drought preparation and response. The goal of the planning process is to assure that sufficient water will be available at a reasonable cost to ensure public health, safety and welfare, further economic development and protect agricultural and natural resources. Consider a resolution nominating Tom Clark, Director of Utilities to serve on the Brazos G Regional Water Planning Group. Resource: Tom Word, Chief of Public Works Operations Tom Clark, Utilities Director History: The Brazos Region 'G' Planning Group was established by the Texas Legislature to coordinate the planning for water resources on a regional basis. City Manager Jim Nuse has served on this group since it's inception. With the undertaking of his additional responsibility as City Manager, Mr. Nuse is resigning from the group. It is extremely important that the interests of Williamson County and the City of Round Rock be represented and that it have a voice on the group. The Resolution would recommend to the Brazos 'G' Group that Tom Clark, Director of Utilities, represent the City as replacement for Mr. Nuse. Funding: Cost: N/A Source of funds: N/A Outside Resources: Brazos River Authority Impact/Benefit: Representation to the Group is in the best interest of the City of Round Rock.
