R -03-09-11-10C1 WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock ("City") desires to purchase an interactive firearms simulation training system for the Police Department, and WHEREAS, the City is a member of the Texas Building & Procurement Commission Co -Operative Purchasing Program ("Co -Op"), and WHEREAS, IES Interactive Training is an approved vendor of the Co -Op through the Catalog Information Services Vendor Program, and WHEREAS, the City wishes to issue a purchase order to IES Interactive Training, Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to issue a purchase order to IES Interactive Training for the purchase of an interactive firearms simulation training system for the Police Department. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended. Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a Purchase Order to IES Interactive Training for the purchase of an interactive firearms training system. Resource: Paul Conner, Police Chief Chris Bratton, Captain History: Proposed is the purchase of an interactive training simulator for police firearms and use of force training. This multimedia system provides interactive video and computer-based simulations under the trainer's control. Officers respond to use -of -force scenarios as they normally would; when a weapon is used, it is computer-linked version of an officer's duty weapon and tracks accuracy without any actual bullets being used. The police trainer controls the outcome of training scenarios based on officer actions. The purchase is partially funded by the 2002 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant and fully completes that grant program. The purchase is being made through the State Catalog Information Services Vendor program Funding: Cost: $63,159.00 Source of Funds: The purchase is funded partially from a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant ($21,419.00) with the remainder of the cost funded from a self -finance account from FY 2001-02.
