DATE: April 1, 2009
SUBJECT: City Council Meeting — April 9, 2009
ITEM: *10C4. Consider an ordinance amending Chapter 9, Section 9.1816, Code of
Ordinances, to prohibit stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles on Tiger Trail.
(Second Reading)

Justification:
Transportation Services
Tom Word, P.E., Chief of Public Works Operations
Amending Chapter 9, Section 9.1816 to prohibit vehicles from parking, standing or stopping on Tiger
Trail from Sunrise Road to 130' west of Buckeye Lane will provide a safer traffic environment for the
area in front of Stoney Point 9th Grade Center and Stoney Point High School.
Funding:
Cost: N/A
Source of funds: N/A
Outside Resources: N/A
Background Information:
This section of roadway runs directly in front of both Stoney Point 9th Grade Center and Stoney Point
High School. Currently, with parking allowed, the lane is restricted down to one lane during high volume
traffic hours. This causes a safety hazard for drivers and pedestrians. Restriction of parking on both
sides of Tiger Trail will provide a safer environment for students and teachers, as well as parents and
visitors to both schools.
