G-09-09-10-9A2 - 9/10/2009ORDINANCE NO. 4.-- 01 -01 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE TRAFFIC CODE BY DESIGNATING THE INTERSECTION OF PARKER DRIVE AND JARRETT WAY AS AN ALL -WAY STOP INTERSECTION; PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES OR RESOLUTIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS: I. That pursuant to Section 9.800, Code of Ordinances (1995 Edition), City of Round Rock, Texas, the below described intersection is hereby designated as an all -way stop intersection with stop signs to be erected as follows: ON AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH Parker Drive Jarrett Way (both directions) Jarrett Way Parker Drive II. A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in conflict herewith are expressly repealed. B. The invalidity of any section or provision of this ordinance shall not invalidate other sections or provisions thereof. C. Consider an ordinance designating the intersection of Parker Drive and Jarrett Way as an all -way stop intersection. (Second Reading) Department: Staff Person: Justification: Transportation Services Tom Word, P.E., Chief of Public Works Operations The intersection of Jarrett Way and Parker Drive is experiencing increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic, due in part to the expansion of Dresser Wayne's facilities in the area. Approval of this item will create an all -way stop intersection at Jarrett and Parker, thus providing breaks in the traffic to allow pedestrians to cross and to facilitate left turn movements. Funding: Cost: N/A Source of funds: N/A Outside Resources: N/A Background Information: The growth of industry in and along the Parker Drive area has increased the vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the area. Engineering judgment suggests that an all way stop condition at the Jarrett/Parker intersection would increase the safety for all road users in this area. Public Comment: N/A
