SUBJECT: City Council Meeting — September 10, 2009
ITEM: *9A2. Consider an ordinance designating the intersection of Parker Drive and Jarrett
Way as an all -way stop intersection. (Second Reading)
Department:
Staff Person:
Justification:
Transportation Services
Tom Word, P.E., Chief of Public Works Operations
The intersection of Jarrett Way and Parker Drive is experiencing increased pedestrian and vehicular
traffic, due in part to the expansion of Dresser Wayne's facilities in the area. Approval of this item will
create an all -way stop intersection at Jarrett and Parker, thus providing breaks in the traffic to allow
pedestrians to cross and to facilitate left turn movements.

Background Information:
The growth of industry in and along the Parker Drive area has increased the vehicular and pedestrian
traffic in the area. Engineering judgment suggests that an all way stop condition at the Jarrett/Parker
intersection would increase the safety for all road users in this area.
