As a part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009, an Energy Efficiency and

the Department of Energy for $955,400.
The purpose of the EECBG Program and this grant is to assist local governments with creating and
implementing strategies to:
• reduce fossil fuel emissions in a manner that is environmentally sustainable and to the
maximum extent practicable for local communities;
• reduce the total energy use; and
• improve energy efficiency in the building sector, the transportation sector, and other
appropriate sectors.
To be eligible for these funds, the City must submit an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy to
the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by December 30, 2009. This resolution will direct staff to submit
this strategy based on the projects that were selected by Council at the November 24, 2009 meeting.
