The most recent agreement with the school district was approved in 2013 by Council as Resolution R-13-09-121-16. In 2013, the interlocal agreement that governs the administration of that program was updated. The agreement requires — prior to each school year's start-- an annual, documented understanding between the agreement's parties as to which schools will be served by the program and the number of school resource officers that will serve those target schools. In the coming school year, the Department will expand the program to middle schools. This Memorandum of Understanding documents that agreement. The following schools will be served by the School Resource Officer Program during the 2015-16 school year: Round Rock High School, Cedar Ridge High School, Stony Point High School, Round Rock Opportunity Center, Ridgeview Middle School, C.D. Fulkes Middle School, Hopewell Middle School, Chisholm Trail Middle School, and Hernandez Middle School. Success High School will be served by SROs assigned to school district campuses. In that school year, the Police Department will assign thirteen police officers and two (2) police sergeants to serve full-time in those schools. Staff recommends approving the Memorandum of Understanding.
