R-10-05-13-1105 WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock has duly advertised for bids for the Old Settlers Park Reuse Waterline - Phase 1A Project, and WHEREAS, McLean Construction, Inc. has submitted the lowest responsible bid, and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept the bid of McLean Construction, Inc., Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City a contract with McLean Construction, Inc. for the Old Settlers Park Reuse Waterline - Phase 1A Project. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended. City Council Agenda Summary Sheet Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a construction contract with Agenda Caption: McLean Construction, Inc. for the Old Settlers Park Reuse Waterline — Phase 1A Project. Meeting Date: May 13, 2010 Department: Water/Wastewater Utilities Staff Person making presentation: Michael Thane Utilities Director Item Summary: Phase 1 of the City's Water Reuse System is to be constructed in two parts, Phase 1A and Phase 1B. This construction contract is associated with Phase 1A which includes the installation of a 24 -inch and a 12 -inch reuse water pipeline. Phase 1B, which will bid under a separate contact in the future, will involve the construction of filtration, disinfection and pumping facilities to be located at the Brushy Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. Once both Phase 1A and 1B construction projects are complete, the City will be able to produce and distribute reuse water to irrigate Old Settlers Park and Dell Diamond. On April 12, 2010, the City received eight bids for the construction of Phase 1A. The engineer's estimate was $1,400,000 and the bids ranged from $975,515 to $1,766,670. The low bidder was McLean Construction, Inc. of Killeen, Texas. The design engineer, HDR Engineering, Inc., and the City's Utility staff recommend awarding this project to McLean Construction, Inc.
