WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock has duly advertised for bids for the Lakeside Subdivision
Channel Improvements Project, and
WHEREAS, Smith Contracting has submitted the lowest responsible bid, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept the bid of Smith Contracting, Now Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS,
That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City a contract
with Smith Contracting for the Lakeside Subdivision Channel Improvements Project.
The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date, hour, place and
subject of the meeting at which this Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was
open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and the subject matter
hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act,
Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended.

Item Summary:
The bid opening for the Lakeside Subdivision Channel Improvements was held on August 6, 2010. Five sealed bids
were received. The highest bid was $319,352 submitted by Myers Concrete Construction, LP. Lewis Contractors
Inc. submitted the second highest bid of $305,899. The third highest bid was $261,935.25 by Muniz Concrete and
Contracting Inc. The second lowest bid was submitted by Keystone Construction, Inc. in the amount of
$226,211.15. The lowest bid of $209,346.50 was received from Smith Contracting Co., Inc.
The goal of this project is to increase the capacity of the Lakeside Subdivision Channel. The work will include
excavation, grading, retaining wall installation, and restoration/re-vegetation.
The City's staff recommends the contract be awarded to Smith Contracting Co., Inc.
