R -10-10-28-10E4 WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock has duly advertised for bids for the North Mays Street Extension Project, and WHEREAS, Chasco Constructors has submitted the lowest responsible bid, and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept the bid of Chasco Constructors, Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City a construction contract with Chasco Constructors for the North Mays Street Extension Project. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended. City Engineer Item Summary: The bid opening for the North Mays Extension/Arterial "M" project from Jeffrey Way to OId Settlers Boulevard was held on September 21, 2010. Eight sealed bids were received. The goal of this project is to straighten and widen North Mays Street which will provide better access for businesses and the City of Round Rock Police Department. These improvements will also help with creating a better transportation corridor if the City decides to extend Arterial M in the future. The City's engineering consultant, Huggins/Seiler and Associates, has tabulated and checked the bids and has determined that Chasco Constructors has submitted the lowest and best bid. Strategic Plan Relevance: Goal 26.0: Construct major element of transportation and mobility system as approved by Council in the Master Transportation Plan.
