R -10-11-23-11E1 WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock has duly advertised for bids for the Little Oaks Subdivision Improvements Project, and WHEREAS, Patin Construction has submitted the lowest responsible bid, and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept the bid of Patin Construction, Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City a construction contract with Patin Construction for the Little Oaks Subdivision Improvements Project. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended. City Council Agenda Summary Sheet Agenda Caption: Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract with Patin Construction for the Little Oaks Subdivision Improvements Project. Meeting Date: November 23, 2010 Department: Infrastructure Development and Construction Management Staff Person making presentation: Danny Halden, P.E. City Engineer Item Summary: This contract will provide street and drainage improvements within the Little Oaks residential subdivision. The improvements consist of: installation of concrete ribbon curbs; widening and overlay of existing streets; re -grading of roadside ditches; storm sewer installation; and replacement of driveways. Sidewalk improvements along RM 620 will also be constructed. On October 20, 2010, four bids were publicly opened. The City's engineering consultant, Freese and Nichols, Inc. (FNI), has tabulated and checked the bids which ranged from $572,569 to $819,492 for the Base Bid plus Add Alternatives "A" and "B". FNI previously estimated the contract at $616,639. FNI has determined that Patin Construction submitted the lowest and best bid and recommends that Patin Construction be awarded the contract, to include the Base Bid and Add Alternatives "A" and "B".
