Director of Infrastructure Management Item Summary: To partially offset the cost of replacing existing residential water meters with Automated Meter Readers (AMR), the City is proposing on a Water & Energy Efficiency Grant to expand their program to better manage water resources through conversion to a new automated meter reading system. The AMR system meets the criteria of Task A — Water Conservation of the Bureau's WaterSMART program. Installation of the AMR system began in November 2009 and to -date, 2,100 water meters have been installed. By 2015, the City anticipates to have the entire City converted over to the advanced meters and the supporting network communications system in place.
