Z-11-05-12-12A1 - 5/12/2011RESOLUTION NO. R -11-05-12-12A1 WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of Round Rock, Texas, that the S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act, CFDA #16.588, Project "VA Prosecution of Domestic Violence Perpetrators" (the "Project") be operated for 2011; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to apply to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division for a grant for said Project; and WHEREAS, the City Council agrees to comply with all requirements for said grant; Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, 1) That the City Council approves submission of the grant application to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division for the S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act and for the Project; and 2) That the City Council agrees to provide applicable matching funds for the Project as required, but the City Council understands that at this time Criminal Justice Division has no requirement for matching funds; and 3) That the City Council agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of grant funds, that the City will return all grant funds to the Criminal Justice Division; and 4) That the City Council hereby designates Steve Norwood, City Manager as the City's authorized official to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant. Violence Against Women Act Meeting Date: May 12, 2011 Department: Police Staff Person making presentation: Bryan Williams Chief of Police Item Summary: A grant application to the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office requesting reallocated American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds available through the S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act. The proposal requests funds to purchase specialized forensics software and licensing agreements; a laptop computer; forensic camera kits; digital cameras, close-up lenses, and flash kits for crime scene work; portable UV lights; tent numbers to be used at crime scenes; and two computer workstations. The Governor's Office is the prime recipient of the grant. The City would be a sub -recipient. Grant funds are distributed by reimbursement. All funds must be obligated by June 30, 2011. This is a revision of Resolution No. R -11-04-28-12A1 authorized on 04-28-2011.
