Agenda Item No. *10C1.
Consider an ordinance amending Chapter 423, Section 42-318, Code of Ordinances (2010
Agenda Caption: Edition),to prohibit parking on a portion of Stone Oak Drive. (Second Reading)
Meeting Date: April 12,2012
Department: Transportation
Staff Person making presentation: Gary Hudder
Transportation Director
Item Summary:
The City has been working with the Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) to improve school related
congestion around Stone Oak Elementary. The City recently added bike lanes on Stone Oak Drive and Upper
Passage Lane in coordination with the neighborhood association. Dedicated parking spaces were installed along the
elementary school frontage to provide a safe parking area during school hours. In cooperation with the RRISD staff,
Round Rock transportation staff recommends that a No Parking Ordinance be adopted for the west side of Stone
Oak Drive from Upper Passage Lane to Top Rock Lane. This No Parking zone will ensure that students riding their
bicycles will not be forced into a vehicular travel lane at the school area.
