Consider executing Supplemental Contract No. 2 with AECOM Technical Services for the
Darn 101 - 30% Design Project.
The original Engineering Services Contract with AECOM Technical Services, Inc. was for
the preliminary design and analysis work for Dam 101. The preliminary design phase
included the remaining geotechnical investigation, additional environmental investigations,
preliminary easement delineations, and 30% plans and construction estimates. The
contract's major milestones were accomplished as planned in July 2017. An initial date
extension to April 2018 was executed to leverage the contract savings and continue
design progress while the Inter -Local Agreement (ILA) and final design contract were
negotiated.
This second Supplemental Contract extends the contract time to August 31, 2018 to
continue work while the ILA and final contract are finalized. The consultant team will pursue
environmental and permitting tasks along with other minor design tasks.
Dam 101 is a joint project between the Upper Brushy Creek Water Control Improvement
District (UBCWCID) and the City to substantially lessen the frequency and depth of
flooding along Lake Creek, particularly in the Greater Round Rock West area. The
UBCWCID and City signed an ILA that assigned responsibility for coordinating design,

construction, and funding of Dam 101 to the City. The UBCWCID is contributing $6 Million
to the project and will operate and maintain the dam when complete. Per the ILA, the City
already received the initial payment of $2 Million.
