Through a cooperative effort, the following organizations -- Cities of Round Rock, Georgetown and Hutto; TxDOT; Capital Area Rural Transportation System; Capital Metro; Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization; United Way, Goodwill, Drive a Senior and other social services organizations -- have formed an informal committee to share ideas and research potential organizational and funding opportunities to better utilize existing, privately owned assets for transporting community members in need. Many of our citizens rely on third -party transportation to sustain their quality of life for everyday activities, such as access to employment, medical appointments, nutritional meals, the pharmacy, the grocery store, etc. The group is not officially sanctioned by any specific governance, but is engaged in dialogue about ways to better satisfy this need in our community without tapping additional local government funding. The group is open to anyone interested in helping to meet this need.
