This is a special revenue fund that accounts for civil or administrative penalties for traffic
signal violations which are used for traffic safety programs including ; pedestrian safety
programs, public safety programs, intersection improvements, and traffic enforcement
consistent with subsection 707.008 of the Transportation Code. The revenues deposited in
this fund represent 50% of the revenue derived from the traffic signal enforcement system
less the costs of installing, maintaining, and operating the system. The other 50% of the
revenue is sent to the comptroller for deposit to benefit the regional trauma account
established under Section 782.002, Health and Safety Code. The City's portion of the
revenues received in FY 2013 that was transferred from the General Fund as of 9/30/13
was $88,094 and will be included in the beginning fund balance.
This FY 2013-2014 Traffic Safety budget provides for $30,000 of intersection improvements
to the right turn lane at a red light camera intersection (TBD).
