The Police Department plans to use the $10,262 grant to replace an existing video forensics computer. DOJ informed the Police Department after the $10,262 grant application was submitted that several components of that application had not been submitted. Under the grant rules, Round Rock is required to come to a formal accommodation with Williamson County regarding any potential sharing of this award. The Department has coordinated the proposed Memorandum of Understanding with City Legal, Commissioner Lisa Birkman, and the County Sheriffs Office. Essentially, the agreement states that the City will use the full grant award, and the county chooses not to share in that award. Upon City Manager approval, the document will go to County Commissioners for ratification. A second piece regarding some standard, signed certifications will follow this MOU through the regular signature process. Those pieces were not previously submitted for the City Manager's signature because the recent change in city managers would complicate DOYs review of that material. Staff recommends approving the MOU.
