Type: City Manager Item Governing Body: City Manager Approval Agenda Date: 9/20/2019 Dept Director: Michael Thane, Utilities and Environmental Services Director Cost: $11,500.00 Indexes: Self -Financed Water Construction Attachments: CO No.1 Department: Utilities and Environmental Services Text of Legislative File CM -2019-0285 The original downtown water tank now referred to as the Downtown Historical Water Tank was erected by Pittsburgh -Des Moines Steel Company (PDM) in 1936 and immediately placed in service. It remained in service until 1986 when the Lake Creek well system and ground storage tank were constructed. The tank is an icon of the City of Round Rock and is visible to the entire downtown area. Due to the age of the tank, the Utility Department staff recommended a high-level structural evaluation of the tank and associated repairs and new coating system to insure the tank's long term integrity. During the project, it became evident the City would need additional safety features installed on the tank. Additional safety features included leg protection ($8,500) to eliminate climbing of the lattice legs and a locking ladder access vandal guard ($3,000). The Utility Staff requests the City Manager to authorize Change Order No. 1 for $11,500 for this additional work. This amends the original contract amount of $371,120 to $382,620.
