WHEREAS, a written request was submitted to the City Manager to name the Municipal
Courtroom in honor of the late Judge Dan R. McNery; and
WHEREAS, the request was submitted to a committee consisting of the City Manager and
three council members appointed by the Mayor in compliance with the city's policy for naming city
facilities; and
WHEREAS, the committee researched, reviewed, and studied the request and has
recommended that the request be approved; and
WHEREAS, Judge McNery served his country as an officer in the Army JAG Corps for four
years; and
WHEREAS, Judge McNery was a practicing attorney in Round Rock for 39 years; and
WHEREAS, Judge McNery served the City of Round Rock as Municipal Court Judge for 37
years; and
WHEREAS, as municipal court judge, Judge McNery was instrumental in starting many
innovative volunteer programs, such as the Teen Court program that allows offenders to make
restitution for their offenses through community service; and
WHEREAS, for more than ten years, Judge McNery dedicated his mornings to magistrate
work at the Round Rock City Jail; and
WHEREAS, during his personal time, Judge McNery dedicated his time to serving the public
at First Baptist Church Round Rock; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of Judge McNery's many years of service to the Round Rock
Community and 37 years of service as the Municipal Court Judge, it is both fitting and proper to name
the Municipal Courtroom in his honor,Now Therefore

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK,TEXAS,
That the City of Round Rock Municipal Courtroom is hereby officially named the Dan R.
McNery Municipal Courtroom.
The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date;hour, place and
subject of the meeting at which this Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was
open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and the subject matter
hereof were discussed, considered and.formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act,
Chapter 551,Texas Government Code, as amended.
