Type: City Manager Item Governing Body: City Manager Approval Agenda Date: 2/28/2020 Dept Director: Michael Thane, Utilities and Environmental Services Director Cost: $11,470.00 Indexes: Self -Financed Wastewater Construction Attachments: Supp. Contract No. 1, Map Department: Utilities and Environmental Services Text of Legislative File CM-2020-062 The South Wastewater Interceptor was installed in 1984 and is co -owned by the City of Round Rock (55.95%) and the City of Austin (44.05%). Inspections of the South Wastewater Interceptor indicated deteriorating conditions of the manholes located along the entire length of the wastewater line. Deteriorating manholes can lead to infiltration of water into the wastewater line, and if left untreated, the failure of the manhole. During recent site investigations, it was determined that one manhole could not be rehabilitated and will need to be completely replaced. Additionally, another downstream manhole will need to be intstalled on the interceptor and a small portion of the wastewater line rerouted on the south interceptor to avoid degradation of a 20-foot-deep manhole. The addition of these two manholes will maximize the life of our deep interceptor and will save the City time and resources. The work requires additional surveying and engineering -related tasks. The original engineering contract with CAS Consulting & Services, Inc. was $87,680.00 of which the City of Round Rock's portion of the cost was $49,056.96. CAS Consulting & Services, Inc. has provided this Supplemental Agreement No. 1 in the amount of $11,470.00. The City of Round Rock's portion of this supplemental agreement will be $6,417.47 bringing the City's total project costs to $55,474.43.
