The process of rehabilitating the tennis courts caused the surface of the court to raise by eight inches, so the benches had to be extended as a result. Additionally, in order to capture all drainage due to the change in slopes at the courts, the contractor had to install larger culverts under the sidewalks. Finally, because of extremely heavy rains during construction, PARD felt that it was best to change the revegetation method from hydromulch seeding to sod installation. PARD received a credit for the hydromulch that was not installed, and paid the additional amount for the sod. The Old Settlers Park Tennis Court Improvement Project included installing a post -tension concrete court overlay over the existing asphalt tennis courts at Old Settlers Park. This was necessary due to excessive cracking which had made the courts difficult and unsafe to play on. This project also included replacing all netting, windscreen, and resurfacing the courts.
