O-84-1100 - 9/13/1984WHEREAS, the City Council deems it necessary to provide uniform sign standards which promote a positive image of the City which reflects order, harmony and pride, thereby strengthening the economic stability of the business, cultural, and residential areas of Round Rock, and WHEREAS, some of the objectives sought by regulating signs include (1) the reduction of hazard producing distractions to motorists and pedestrians, (2) the increase of effectiveness of signs which are needed to direct the public, and (3) the continuing improvement and beautification of the City for the benefit of visitors, tourists, residents and potential residents, and distracting signs must be reduced and otherwise controlled to achieve the above desired objectives, and WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the following provisions constitute the minimum amount of regulation which is required to achieve the desired objectives, Now Therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO 1700 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 4, SECTION 6, CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, BY ADDING PARAGRAPH J. PROVIDING FOR THE ABATEMENT OF NONCONFORMING SIGNS; REPEALING CHAPTER 11, SECTION 3.Q.(3)(c), CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF ROUND ROCK; PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES. WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the number of I. Nonconforming Sign Abatement (1) All signs which are in violation of this Section 6 shall be deemed nonconforming and shall be brought into compliance or removed no later than January 1, 1991. TT. That Chapter 11, Sectin 3.Q.(3)(c), Code of Ordinances, City of Round Rock is hereby repealed. III. A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in conflict herewith are expressly repealed. B. The invalidity of any section or provision of this ordinance shall not invalidate other sections or provisions thereof.
