AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 11, ZONING, CODE OF
ORDINANCES, CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS: PROVIDING
FOR AN ALTERNATE PARKING STANDARD AND PROVIDING
CRITERIA FOR DETERMINING SUCH A STANDARD: REPEALING
CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS
CLAUSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND
ROCK, TEXAS:
I.
That Chapter 11, Section 3, 0, 1 of the Code of Ordinances,
City of Round Rock, Texas is hereby amended by adding the
following:
(V) An alternate parking standard may be approved by the
Director of Planning and Community Development for
specific uses which are deemed to require less
parking than the standards outlined in Section 0, (1)
based on the following criteria:
1.) The use of the building is specific and
occupied by a single user.
2.) The user provides a detailed breakdown of his
parking requirements indicating employee counts,
shift distribution and visitor or customer needs.
3.) The user provides a site plan showing how
additional parking to meet standard ordinance
requirements would be provided if the use
changed or parking needs increase.
The Director of Planning and Community Development
shall establish conditions necessary to assure the
adequacy of future on site parking when approving an
alternate parking standard.
II.
A. The invalidity of any section or provision of this
ordinance shall not invalidate other sections or provisions
thereof.
B. All ordinances, parts of ordinances or resolutions
in conflict herewith are expressly repealed.

affirmative vote of all Council Members present, the
requirement for reading this ordinance on two separate
days was dispensed with.

STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joe Vining
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval of an amendment to provide for an
alternate parking standard for single user buildings based on
the specific needs of the occupant and assure that full parking
standards could be met on the site, if the user changed in the
future.

ECONOMIC IMPACT: This will provide added flexibility to attract industry
to Round Rock.' There are no costs to the City. 4
