ITEM: 8.8.1. Consider an ordinance authorizing the creation of Park Zones as defined
in Section 8.300 of the Subdivision Ordinance. (First Reading)
Department: Parks and Recreation Department
Staff Person: Sharon Prete, Parks and Recreation Director
Justification:
While in the process of amending Section 8.300 - Parkland Requirement of the Subdivision

within that or a surrounding park zone for the development of a neighborhood park. If no
neighborhood development is needed, the funds will be applied to the nearest community park.
Funding:
Cost: N/A
Source of funds: N/A
Outside Resources: N/A
Background Information:
For clarity and simplicity, Park Service Areas are based upon the City of Round Rock Street Atlas.
Public Comment:
Several public input exercises concerning the Ordinance revision have occurred, including a Public
Hearing before the Planning & Zoning Commission, as well as, a meeting with representatives
from the Development Community.
