BCRUA 512-215-9151 From: Jim Tolles [mailto:jrtolles@austin.rr.com] sent: Tuesday, June OS, 2012 11:58 AM To: Jason Brian; Jennifer Harrison; Michael Thuss Cc: Glenn Bridges; Kenneth Wheeler Subject: FW: Trench & Cover Raw Water Intake Conductors Cedar Park and Leander are considering burying the exposed electric cables that power their intakes on Sandy Creek. In prior years the exposed cables have been submerged, but in drought years the cables are exposed to weather, potential vandalism or theft. I asked Excel to provide a quote to BCRUA to do the same scope on its cables. Excel would move the cables out of the way, dig a 12" deep trench wide enough for the power and control cables, lay the cables in the trench, cover with plastic, then fill the trench with W' gravel, then 3x5 ballast rock on top. The cables would be buried from the headwall to the cliff. There is adequate cable length under water for the lake to rise to overflow level and not pull the cables out of the trench. Doing all three projects together is the most efficient as there would be only one mobilization charge. I've included all three proposals so you can see the relative costs. I've also included a couple of pies taken today of the existing conditions. We would like to start this project in the next two weeks, while Excel is wrapping up the Cedar Park underwater pipeline project. Please let me know as soon as you've had time to review.
