ADDENDUM TO EXHIBIT B
ENGINEERING SERVICES
GENERAL
The Project consists of providing engineering services to support the emergency repair of the Phase
1A, Contract 2 raw water pipeline. The pipeline is a 36-inch diameter ductile iron main constructed
in 2012 to connect the temporary floating intake with the 78-inch diameter raw water pipeline on
Trails End Road. The 36-inch diameter pipeline failed on December 21, 2020, resulting in loss of
service to the OWNER system. Dive inspections revealed that the pipeline failed approximately 200
feet downstream of the underwater pipeline manifold.
OWNER has executed a construction contract with Excel Construction Services, LLC(CONTRACTOR)
to repair the pipeline. The pipeline repair consists of the following main work components:
■ Mobilize the marine construction operation including setting temporary work anchors,
■ Inspect the pipeline to locate failure points and determine the extent of damaged
pipeline,
■ Evaluate various repair options with BCRUA and Walker Partners to determine a repair
strategy;
■ Remove damaged pipe sections;
■ Survey the pipeline alignment and elevation of tie-in points of competent pipe
remaining,
■ Excavate and install 3-inch by 5-inch (bull rock)pipe support bedding in the pipe trench;
■ Install new concrete pipe supports;
■ Prepare the ends of the existing pipeline and install new ductile iron pipe and fittings;
■ Install bull rock over the new pipe,
■ Service, test and inspect the pipeline; and,
■ Demobilize the marine construction operation.
