RESOLUTION NO. R-2025-150 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS AUTHORIZING A REQUEST FOR THE VOLUNTARY EXPANSION OF THE CITY'S EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION. WHEREAS, pursuant to Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 42, Section 42.022(b), the extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) of a municipality may expand beyond the distance limitations imposed by Section 42.021 to include an area contiguous to the otherwise existing ETJ if the owners of the area request the expansion; and WHEREAS, on August 29, 2024, Debra Kay Briggs submitted a petition requesting release from the ETJ of the City of Georgetown, Texas for approximately 66.66 acres of land; and WHEREAS, on September 24, 2024, the City of Georgetown granted the petition for release of 66.66 acres of land from its ETJ; and WHEREAS, on March 19, 2025, Debra Kay Briggs and Marc Briggs submitted an additional petition requesting release from the ETJ of the City of Georgetown, Texas for approximately 9.998 acres of land; and WHEREAS, on April 08, 2025, the City of Georgetown granted the petition for release of 9.998 acres of land from its ETJ; and WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock, Texas (the "City") has received a request from Debra Kay Briggs and Marc Briggs (the "Owners") to expand the City's ETJ in addition to a petition for annexation, attached hereto as Exhibit "A," and incorporated herein by reference for all purposes; and 0112.20252;4935-4988-1927 WHEREAS, the City desires to accept the Owners' request to expand the City's ETJ for approximately 66.66 acres of land situated in the Calvin Bell Survey, Abstract No. 112, Williamson County, Texas, being more fully described and depicted in Exhibit `B," attached hereto and incorporated herein for all purposes; and WHEREAS, the City desires to accept the Owners' request to expand the City's ETJ for approximately 9.998 acres of land situated in the Calvin Bell Survey, Abstract No. 112, Williamson County, Texas, being more fully described and depicted in Exhibit "C," attached hereto and incorporated herein for all purposes, Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, The above recitals are hereby adopted verbatim as if recited herein. The City hereby accepts such request to expand its ETJ in accordance with Texas Local Government Code § 42.022(b). That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City any and all documents to effectuate the City's acceptance of said request. The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended. The Land is contiguous to the existing extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City. III. This petition and request is made pursuant to Section 42.022, Texas Local Government Code, as amended.
