Re: Annual Opening Day Parade - Sam Bass of Round Rock Youth
Baseball League, Inc.
Dear Mayor and Council Members:
I am writing on behalf of the Sam Bass Youth Baseball League
to request the City Council's approval to close a portion of Main
Street for our annual Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies. Pending
your approval, we are planning to hold our annual parade beginning
at 7:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2000. I respectfully request that
this item be placed on the City Council agenda for the council
meeting to be held on February 8, 2000. We will be sure to have a
representative of the Sam Bass Youth Baseball League to address any
questions or concerns you may have.
The parade will begin at the parking lot of the El Matador
restaurant, located at 113 W. Main Street, and will proceed
eastward beginning on Round Rock Avenue in front of E1 Matador,
through the intersection of Main and Mays Street, and on E. Main
Street to the Sam Bass Youth Baseball fields located at 901 E. Main
Street. Once the parade is over, we will then conduct our Opening
Day Ceremonies at the Sam Bass Youth Baseball fields.
The parade will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes to
complete. Therefore, we request that the street be closed from 7:00
am to 8:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 1999. I have attached a map
highlighting the portion of Round Rock Avenue and Main Street on
which the parade will travel. Additionally, we have checked with
the fire department and the police department regarding this date,
and both have indicated that this date and time is acceptable.
Sam Bass Youth Baseball thanks you for the support that you
have given our organization over the years. Once again, we ask for
your approval of our Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies. We invite
each of you to attend our Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies and
share in the celebration with our Sam Bass families and friends.
