WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock has previously entered into a
contract for engineering services ("Contract") with HDR Engineering,
Inc. for the Lake Creek Pump Station Improvements Project, and
WHEREAS, HDR Engineering, Inc. has submitted Amendment No. 1 to
the Contract to include the replacement of the chemical control system,
the modification of existing piping, and the design of a 16-inch water
line, as described in the attached Amendment No. 1, and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to enter into said Amendment
No. 1 to the Contract with HDR Engineering, Inc., Now Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK,TEXAS,
That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute on
behalf of the City Amendment No. 1 to the Contract with HDR
Engineering, Inc. to include the replacement of the chemical control
system, the modification of existing piping, and the design of a 16-
inch water line, a copy of said amendment being attached hereto and
incorporated herein for all purposes.
The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of
the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this
Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the
public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and
the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted
upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas
Government Code, as amended, and the Act.

AMENDMENT No.I
To the
CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES between
THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK and
HDR ENGINEERING,INC.
Dated October 14,1999
GENERAL
This constitutes an Amendment to the Contract for Engineering Services—Lake Creek
Pump Station Improvements Project for PROFESSIONAL SERVICES between the City
of Round Rock"City"and HDR Engineering,Incorporated,of Austin,Texas(HDR).
The scope of services to be provided by the Engineer as listed in Attachment B of the
Contract is amended to include the following.
For the Design Phase,include in the following in the specifications and drawings to be
developed for Bidding Purposes:
• Replace existing chlorine and ammonia control system and combine all telemetry at
the site into one location for local monitoring and control as well as communication
with the Water Treatment Plant.
• Include a new sodium hydroxide storage and feed facility.
• Modify existing well collection piping to address hydraulic concerns and provide for
one master flow meter.
• Modify existing pump discharge piping to address hydraulic and pipe condition
concerns and provide one master flow meter.
• Include demolition of the existing building housing Well Nos.1 and 2 and the
associated old chlorine storage and feed facility.
• Include plugging of Well Nos.2,5,6 and 10.
• Provide protection from flooding for Well No.3.
• Provide testing for lead-based coatings and the presence of asbestos for the equipment
and structures to be demolished.
• Coordinate with the City regarding the construction contract documents to be used.
• Provide surveying services and two design drawing sheets depicting the plan and
profile of a proposed 16-inch water line between the Tower Drive Pump Station and
the South 81 Standpipe. This new line will replace the existing 12-inch water line
now in place. The drawings will be used by the City to have the improvements
constructed as part of the ongoing Dell Way road construction project. No
specifications will be provided,and it is anticipated that the City will supply their
standard specifications to the road construction contractor.
The above listed items will be completed on the basis of Lump Sum in the amount of
Fifty-four Thousand Dollars($54,000.00). This fee shall include Lump Sum fees as
listed below for analytical testing and subconsultant services:
• lead-based coating testing.-$600.00
• asbestos testing-$5,000.00
• Baker-Aicklen&Associates(surveying)-$5,800.00
The term of this Amendment shall commence on the signing date and continue in effect
until such time as terminated in writing by either party.
SIGNATURE WARRANTY
The undersigned signatory on signatories for the Engineer hereby represents and warrant
that the signatory is an officer of the organization for which he or she has executed this
Contract and that he or she has full and complete authority to enter into this Contract on
behalf of the firm. The above-stated representations and warranties are made for the
purpose of including the City to enter into this Contract.

History: Council approved the current contract with HDR for the Lake Creek Pump Station
Improvements on the 14`s day of October 1999 for$167,280.00.These improvements were
needed to replace and upgrade the existing vertical turbine pumps to deliver water to the
924 pressure plain.Also,to consolidate the existing multiple electric feeds into the site into
a single feed.Additionally,these improvements were to include upgrading the electrical
building,the fluoridation system,and chemical feed system,which will simplify operations
and maintenance.
The general scope of work under this amendment is to replace existing chemical control
system and telemetry for local control and monitoring at the Water Treatment Plant,modify
existing piping from pumps to go through one master flow meter,and the plugging of wells
2,5,and 10.Also,included in this amendment is the design of al 6-inch water line between
the Tower Drive Pump Station and the South 81 Tank,this line will be constructed under a

Funding:
Cost: $54,000.00
Source of funds: Transfers from Fund 24-LCRA
Outside Resources: HDR Engineering,htc.
Impact: To minimize the potential of critical system failure, which could result in serious
water shortages to our customers.
Benefit: Minimize any negative impact on the system by minimising possible down time.
Also,to simplify the operations and maintenance of the Lake Creek Pump Station.
