Field survey requires additional design survey for the portion of US 79 near Old Settlers

improvements on the west occurs. Since that area has been modified after the original
design survey was done, it now needs to be re- surveyed again.
Right of way survey needs to be adjusted due to an increased number of right of way
parcels, an increase in the number of monuments to be set, and the addition of a water line
easement on the north side of US 79 which requires five property descriptions and exhibits.

DATE: January 10, 2002
SUBJECT: City Council Meeting — January 4, 2002
ITEM: *12.F.1. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute
Supplemental Agreement No. 3 to the Contract for Engineering
Services with Carter & Burgess, Inc. for improvements to US 79
from FM 1460 to CR 195. This is to provide for a change in the
scope of services for the project US 79 from FM 1460 to CR 195.
The additional cost of $27,275.00 will bring the total project cost to
$651,596.00.
Resource: Jim Nuse, Public Works Director
Bill Stablein, Traffic Engineer Associate
History: The City Council approved Supplemental Agreement No. 2 at its regular session on
September 13, 2001 being Resolution No. R- 01- 09- 13 -15F9 to provide for a change
in the scope of services to develop plans and specifications for additional
illumination of US 79. Approval of Supplemental Agreement No. 3 will provide for
an additional change in the scope of services to include additional survey work that
was not anticipated when Supplemental Agreement No. 2 was executed. These
additional services are additional field survey for the portion of US 79 near Old
Settlers Park where the transition from the new improvements on the east to the
existing improvements on the west occurs. Since the area has been modified after
the original design survey was done, it now needs to re- survey. Additional right of
way surveying is needed due to an increased number of right of way parcels, an
increase in the number of monuments to be set, and the addition of a water line
easement on the north side of US 79 which requires five property descriptions and
exhibits. The number of right of way parcels increased from 12 to 17. The number
of TxDOT Type II Monuments increased from 40 to 70. The engineer has agreed to
perform the additional work on US 79 from FM 1460 to CR 195 for $27,275.00
bringing the total cost of the project to $651,596.00.
Funding:
Cost: $27,275.00
Source of funds: Round Rock Transportation System Development Corp
Outside Resources: Carter - Burgess, Inc.
Impact/Beneft: Approval of Supplemental Agreement No. 3 will allow design criteria to
meet Texas Department of Transportation specifications and for a timely and
accurate completion of the project.
