WHEREAS, El Amistad has requested that East Main Street from Mays
Street to Sheppard Street, Lampasas Street from Bagdad Avenue to the
alley behind 118 East Main Street, and Sheppard Street from Badgad
Avenue to Liberty Avenue be closed from 2:00 o'clock p.m. on May 25,
2002 until 1:00 o'clock a.m. on May 27, 2002, for the organization's
annual event known as El Amistad Fiesta, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to grant such request, Now
Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS,
That Main Street, Lampasas Street, and Sheppard Street be closed
as set forth above.
The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of
the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this
Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the
public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and
the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted
upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas
Government Code, as amended.

Purpose of the Road Closure: _Fiesta Amistad May 25 and 26
Roads to be Closed (Parade Route): Main Street from Mays to S. Sheppard. Also S. Lampasas from the Parking garage to
the end of the alley behind Main Street Grill. Also, S. Sheppard from where city hall starts on the Main Street side to the end
of the Library on the north side._

IMPORTANT:
1. Requests should be made at least 30 days in advance of the closing to (1) allow sufficient time for

3. The requester should anticipate attending the City Council meeting at which the closure is considered to
answer any questions Council members might have.

History: This is an annual event conducted by the El Amistad Club of Round Rock, a
nonprofit organization created in 1968 to support education and community
services, as well as to encourage awareness of the Hispanic culture. The three -
day El Amistad Fiesta is the club's main fundraiser, and the club has awarded
more than $150,000 in scholarships since the club was founded.
