WHEREAS, the U.S. Post Office located at 797 Sam Bass Road
was constructed approximately twenty years ago, and
WHEREAS, since that time the population of Round Rock has
grown from approximately 13,000 to the present population of over
71,000, and
WHEREAS, the current location of the Post Office has
inadequate parking for the number of patrons wishing to use the
facility, and
WHEREAS, the increased traffic volumes at the intersection of
Sam Bass Road and Chisholm Trail Drive have severely impacted the
access to and from the Post Office, and
WHEREAS, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of
automobile accidents in the area of the Post Office, Now Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK,
TEXAS,
That the City Council hereby determines that it is in the best
interests of the citizens of Round Rock to move the Post Office to
a larger and more accessible location and hereby encourages the
United States Postal Service to begin the planning process to move
the Post Office.
The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice
of the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this
Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to

the public as required by law at all times during which this
Resolution and the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered
and formally acted upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act,
Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, as amended.
