R- 02- 08- 22 -13B1 WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock has previously entered into a Professional Services Agreement with Trinity Engineering /Kleinfelder for construction materials testing for the City Wide Trail System - Phase I, and WHEREAS, Trinity Engineering /Kleinfelder has submitted an amendment to the Professional Services Agreement for a change in the scope of services, and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to enter into said amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Trinity Engineering /Kleinfelder, Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City an amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Trinity Engineering /Kleinfelder, a copy of said amendment being attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein for all purposes. Palm Valley Blvd. Round Rock, Texas 78664 Reference: Old Settler' s Park Trails Additional Construction Materials Testing Dear Mr. Hemenes: TRINITY ENGINEERING /KLEINFELDER An employ,. own,/ company As a follow -up to our telephone conversation, I am requesting an increase in our Construction Testing Budget for this project to cover consultations, job visits and testing costs that would not be chargeable to Camp Excavation. Our previously approved budget is $14473.00 and previous billings were $14,168.00, leaving a remaining budget of $305.00. Since July 26, 2002, we have accumulated approximately $1000.00 of unbilled charges for consultation and job visits. I am requesting an increase of $2500.00 to a total budget of $16973.00. I would not expect to exceed this amount unless some other unknown circumstance should occur. If you have any further thoughts on this, we would of course welcome your input. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Trinity Engineering /Kleinfelder for construction materials testing for the City Wide Trail System - Phase L Resource: Sharon Prete, Parks and Recreation Director M. James Hemenes, Park Planner History: A 1500 ft. section of the Old Settlers Park at Palm Valley Trail failed due to expansive clay soils. The random core samples taken prior to the beginning of the project did not identify this problem area. Extending this contract will provide the additional geotech testing required to insure the prescribed sub - grade and sub base compaction and paving meets the recommended standard set. Funding: Cost: $2,500.00 Source of funds: Outside Resources: Trinity Engineering/Kleinfelder Impact/Benefit: Correcting the trail foundation will reduce the amount of maintenance time spent on this section of trail and enhance the quality of the product.
