CITY OF ROUND ROCK and ATTEST: RESOLUTION NO. 136R J!ANNE LAN r cting City Secretary RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock, Texas, has applied for a Management Study Implementation Grant through the Governor's Office of Criminal Justice Coordination; and WHEREAS, that grant has been approved in the amount of $5,507.00; WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock's portion of the above grant is $507.00; and WHEREAS, these matching funds must be committed to the Governor's Office of Criminal Justice Coordination by the City Council of the City of Round Rock; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Round Rock that the City Manager be authorized to enter into an agreement with the Governor's Office of Criminal Justice Coordination for the purposes of this grant and that the City Manager be authorized to expend funds from the City Treasury in the amount of $507. 00 for the purpose of matching funds for the Management Study Implementation Grant. Professi opal and Contract Services A consulting firm will be retained to prepare, based on the study recommendations and City - determined policies, a field, notebook of Plice Department Policies and Procedures The consultant' will provide sufficient copies of the field manual, of reporting forms recommended by the TCLEOSE records study to last for a 3 -4 year period. X. Field Manual -- Consultant will prepare draft and final versions of a Field Notebook to be termed "Round Rock Police Department Policies and Procedures. ". The book- let will be prepared in final form in hard- cover, looseleaf typed copy to facilitate updating and other changes. The document will be approximately 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" for ease of carrying in the field. (30 copies) $1,000. 2. Reporting and Records Forms- -The consultant will provide for printed reproduction of forms as recommended • and provided to Round Rock by the Texas Commission on Law Enforce- meat Officer Standards and Education (June 1975). Dictatinc_Equinment -- Present operations call for handvr•itten reports which are typed by City Hall Staff as time ' permits. Handwriting is a slow, inefficient and at times inaccurate method of report writing. The Department needs electronic equipment for dictating reports, letters and other mat rials to be typed. This would permit on - site taping 'and even writing while in patrol cars, thus saving valuable patrol time. • a . Dictating Machines-- smell, hand -held (preferrably Pocket- sized), battery- operated cassette dictating machines.
