R-76-139 - 10/18/1976• RESOLUTION NO. 139R RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Round Rock, Texas, has requested that the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce conduct a house -to -house census on all inhabitants located within the city limits of the City of Round Rock, Texas; and WHEREAS, said census was completed on April 30, 1976, and the results of said census showed that the population of the City of Round Rock, Texas, upon said date was Five Thousand Fifty Five (5,055) inhabitants; WHEREAS, in order to make a determination of the current population of the City of Round Rock, Texas, the City Manager, as directed by the City Council, made a utility survey to determine the current number of water meters and electrical meters within the city limits of the City of Round Rock, Texas, in order to make a comparison with the number of said meters and customers that existed in the year 1970 when the Federal census indicated that the popu- lation of the City of Round Rock, Texas, was Two Thousand Eight Hundred Eleven (2,811) people. Based on said survey, the population of the City of Round Rock, Texas, on September 2, 1976, is indicated as follows: City water meters, 5,654 inhabitants; Electrical meters, 5,673 inhabitants; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Round Rock, Texas, on September 2, 1976, held a public hearing to consider testimony of the citizens of the City of Round Rock, Texas, concerning the,population of the City of Round Rock, Texas, as of September 2, 1976; and WHEREAS, each method employed by the City Council to determine the popu- lation of the City of Round Rock, Texas, on September 2, 1976, indicates that the said population on said date is in excess of 5,000 inhabitants: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Round Rock, Texas: THAT the City of Round Rock, Texas, had, on September 2, 1976, and now has, a population of more than 5,000 inhabitants and here now find, determine, and declare that the City of Round Rock, Texas, is a city of more than 5,000 inhabitants, subject to all the general laws of the State of Texas prescribing municipal powers, functions, rights, and privileges for cities and towns of more than 5,000 inhabitants.
