R-82-469 - 7/29/1982WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Round Rock, Williamson
County, Texas, has long recognized the need for an acute care general
hospital to meet the health care needs of the residents of the City of
Round Rock and Southwest Williamson County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock has heretofore worked closely with
Lifemark Hospitals, Inc. in the planning and development of Round Rock
Community Hospital a new 75 bed general acute care hospital presently
under construction at a site on FM 620 within the extra territorial
jurisdiction of the City of Round Rock; and
WHEREAS, the City of Austin /Brackenridge Hospital has filed a
petition to enjoin the further construction of Round Rock Community
Hospital, Round Rock, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the duly elected members of the City Council of the City
of Round Rock have determined that the delay in the development, construction
and operation of Round Rock Community Hospital which would result from the
issuance of an injunction prohibiting further construction would not be
in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Round Rock and would
daoage the public interest and welfare of all residents of the City of Round
Rock and Southwest Williamson County by delaying the provision of health
services at Round Rock Community Hospital, specifically including the provision
of 24 hour emergency services; Now Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS
That the City Council of the City of Round Rock does hereby state its
formal opposition to the petition for injunction filed by the City of Austin/
Brackenridge Hospital in Cause No. 331,059, in the 126th Judicial District
Court of Travis County, Texas, the granting of which would not be in the
public interest of the citizens of the City of Round Rock and Southwest
Williamson County.
