CONSULTING GROUND -WATER HYDROLOGISTS AUSTIN - HOUSTON 3355 BEE CAVE ROAD, SUITE 401 • AUSTIN, TEXAS 78746 • (512) 327.9640 June 14, 1984 In response to your request during our meeting on June 8, 1984, this letter presents our estimate of the costs required to perform our proposed study of the City of Round Rock ground- water supply. An additional copy of the outline of the proposed study, which 2 presented for discussion at the meeting, is at- tached for reference. As we discussed in the meeting, the exact work requirements and costs of the entire study will be difficult to determine until the first two major items listed in the outline (the basic data collection and evaluation) are completed. These items will provide most of the information required in the succeeding items of the study. Therefore, we propose to perform the study on a unit rate plus expenses basis, according to the enclosed rate schedule. For your budgeting purposes, however, the following listing gives a brief description of the work and our estimate of the total cost required for each of the major items in the attached outline. Estimated Item Description Cost 2. To compile, review, plot, compare, and eval- uate the data for the period 1978 through 1984 with City personnel supplying information not already available in our files and assisting in obtaining information from local industries if necessary: $4,000.00 I2. To conduct field checks and make measurements of water levels, pumping rates, interferences, and changes with aquifer conditions, (1) with relatively full -time assistance from City personnel: $2,000.00 (2) with only intermittent assistance from City personnel: $3,500.00 Mr. Bob Bennett -2- June 14, 1984 Estimated Item Description Cost III. To determine the quantity of water that can be produced from the present well system and the quantity that might be produced from the system with mechanical and operational modifications. If these quantities are not sufficient to meet the City's ground -water requirements, evaluate the possibility of expanding the system: $1,500.00 IV. To prepare a report on the activities, re- sults, and evaluation of the study, with a presentation to the City including recom- mendations: $3,500.00 As mentioned above, the emphasis on and work required for each of the items may change as the study progresses and more detailed information becomes available. It is for this reason that we propose to perform the study on a unit rate basis. However, we agree not to exceed the limit of $12,500.00 without previous approval from the City. If you have any questions about the proposed work items or our estimated costs, please feel free to contact us. I will be glad to meet with you and your staff to discuss our proposal and the study.' We are prepared to begin the study within a few days of receiving written notification from the City. Sincerely, TLH:sjb Enclosures WILLIAM F. GUYTON ASSOCIATES, INC. Ted L. Harriger WILLIAM L.
