RESOLUTION NO. (9661-
WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock is desirous of protecting the health,
safety and welfare of its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation
has submitted a proposal to signalize the railroad crossing at Sam Bass
Road; and
WHEREAS, the Council feels it would be in the best interest of the
citizens of Round Rock to place drop -arm railroad crossing signals at
Sam Bass Road; and
WHEREAS, the Council wishes to authorize $8,000 to accomplish said
task; Now Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS
That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute on
behalf of the City of Round Rock a certification statement with the Texas
Department of Highways and Public Transportation for the signalization
of the railroad crossing at Sam Bass Road.

Dear Mayor Robinson:
As per our diagnostic inspection on April 8, 1986, our office has prepared the
necessary project plans to signalize the above railroad crossing. Copies of those
glans are enclosed. Please review the plans and submit them to your City Council
for review and approval.
If the City of Round Rock concurs with our proposal and wishes to participate in
the project, please process and return both copies of the enclosed certification,
statement, along with a check in the amount of $8,000.00. Make the check payable
to the State Treasurer, Account of Trust Fund No. 927. This check will be pay-
ment for the City's share of the cost.
The total estimated cost of improvements for this crossing is $80,000.00. State
funding will pay eighty percent (80 %) of the cost with the City and the railroad
company each contributing ten percent (10 %).

crossing and agrees to forward its remittance made payable to the
State Treasurer, Account of Trust Fund No. 927, to the Department in
the amount of $ 8.000.00 at the earliest date and under no
circumstance later than July 31, 1986. This will constitute the full
and final participation by the Municipality. The undersigned also agrees
that advance warning signs and pavement markings will be in accordance
with State and Federal standards at the time of project completion.

ITEM: 11B - Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an
agreement with the Texas Department of Highways and Public
Transportation concerning the Sam Bass Road railroad crossing.
The attached documents describe the drop -arm railroad crossing signals
proposed for Sam Bass Road and the MOPAC line. This signalization will
require $8,000 of City funds which represents 10% of the total cost.
