MIKE ROBINSON, Mayor City of Round Rock, Texas The Texas Legislature is considering a budget plan that will eliminate the State and Local Park Funds. The adverse impact will be felt by all cities, including Round Rock, which rely upon grants for development and acquisition projects. If the Funds are abolished it well be very difficult to have them reinstated at a later date. The 1987 allocation was originally set at 18 million dollars. This has been reduced to 10 million dollars, $8,000,000.00 was diverted to the Home Port Project. In this time of budget cuts, to divert additional funds is understandable, but to eliminate the fund would have a far reaching effect from which it would be difficult to recover. Staff recommends approval of the resolution. DATE: SUBJECT: ITEM: August 12, 1986 Council Agenda, August 14, 1986 9D - Consider a resolution encouraging the protection of State and Local Park Funds.
