WHEREAS. by various Resolutions the City Council authorized
the creation of the Round Rock Industrial Development
Corporation, the Round Rock Housing Finance Corporation and the
Round Rock Health Facilities Corporation; and
WHEREAS. the Corporations were authorized on behalf of the
City to act for the specific public purpose of the promotion and
development of commercial, industrial, manufacturing and health
related enterprises to promote and encourage employment and the
public welfare; and
WHEREAS, the Corporations have collected fees from
applicants for industrial development bonds and now have in
excess of $33,000 on account; and
WHEREAS, the Boards of Directors of the Corporations, in
cooperation with the Industrial Development Committee of the
Chamber of Commerce are planning to initially underwrite the
establishment of an Industrial and Economic Development
Coordinator for the purpose of promotion and development of
commercial, industrial. manufacturing and health related
enterprises in Round Rock; and
WHEREAS, the Boards of Directors of the Corporations have
approved the expenditure of up to $33,000 of the various
Corporation's funds for the project; and
WHEREAS, the Boards of Directors of the Corporations request
the City Council to authorize such expenditure, Now Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK,
TEXAS
That the Boards are hereby authorized to make expenditures
of up to a total of $33,000 for an Industrial and Economic
Development Coordinator to encourage the promotion and
development of commercial, industrial, manufacturing and health
related enterprises in the City of Round Rock as follows:
Round Rock industrial Development Corporation $20,000
Round Rock Housing Finance Corporation 4,000
Round Rock Health Facilities Corporation 9,000
That The Council of The City of Round Rock established a
committee to establish the goals of this office, a job
desription, chain of command and a method by which to evaluate
the performance of Economic Development Coordinator.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Economic Development Coordinator
Definition:
To coordinate all Industrial activities with the Industrial Development
and Economic Development Committees of the Chamber of Commerce. To serve as
a liason between the City of Round Rock and Chamber of Commerce and the
existing Industries in the City.
Supervision Received and Exercised
Receives administrative direction from the Industrial Development
Corporation.
Examples of Duties: Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Handle day to day details for the Industrial and /or Economic Development
Committee.
Follow up on all industrial visits (i.e., letter writting; phone calls etc.).
Follow up on industrial leads.
Put industrial site package together in a timely manner and keep it updated.
Develop a line of communication with Texas Economic Development Commission.
Develop a line of communication with the Governor's Office.
Develop a line of communication with the Governor's Small Business
Revitalization Program.
Communicate and update with Corridor Council.
Liason with local industry (what can the City do to help those already here).
Start process for Foreign Trade Zone.
Contact with spin off industries and suppliers that existing industry needs
to locate here.
Keep all statistical information in the City, School, County etc. updated
and available for use.
Establish contacts with Industrial locators (establishing contact person
with these companies).
Liason person between City /Chamber and Industry.

Real estate and real estate values background
Experience in putting together numbers and information
College education
Business English, spelling and mathematics

Ability to:
Provide information and organize material
Meet the public or private sector, understand their questions and
provide information
Gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion
Administer an office budget
Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writting
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those
contacted in the course of work
This person is NOT an industrial recruiter. Our volunteers on the
Committee are our best way of selling Round Rock. This person would keep
our Committee updated and informed so we can do a better job of selling
Round Rock.
