SUBJECT: ELIMINATION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 81
To reduce the clutter on Interstate guide signing, particularly in urban
areas, and thereby reduce the chances of drivers confusion, we are elimi-
nating U.S. Highway 81 which is concurrent with Interstate Highway 35
from Fort Worth to Laredo. To accomplish this alteration in your im-
mediate area will require the removal of all U.S. 81 shields along IH
35 and all Business 81 shields along IH 35 and the Business Route.
The Business 81 shields would be replaced with signing to reflect the
proposed highway designation, "Business Loop 35 ", for the Business Route
through the City of Round Rock.
Therefore, we are requesting your review and comments concerning the
proposed route designation, "Business Loop 35 ". If you concur, please
acknowledge by a City Resolution or Ordinance.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact this
office.
Sincerely,
ENGINEER.DIRECTOR
